Solar-Powered Power Bank

Ice storm knocked the power out for our whole street, and by the next afternoon our well pump stopped working too — hadn't even considered that would happen. Used it to charge our phones while we sorted out where to go. Sat it on the windowsill and it ran steady the entire day. That was the difference between panicking and actually having a plan.

Hurricane knocked us out for almost five days. Generator ran dry by night two and we couldn't get more fuel anywhere nearby. This kept going the whole time it was sunny. Wasn't quick, but it never quit on us. Having one phone alive for weather alerts made all the difference during the worst of it.

Whole grid went down after that heat wave last July, and it got chaotic fast — gas stations backed up for hours, stores cleared out by evening. Dug this out from under some camping gear, set it outside, and had power running again within the hour. Charged our phones, kept a light going after dark, even lent it to the neighbors across the street for a bit. You don't think about it until the one day you actually do.
